The Love Bus is a band and fan-based effort giving back to communities and people through events supporting selected charities at various Big Daddy Love shows and other endeavors.

The mission of The Love Bus is to help and support several nonprofit organizations or causes annually through events at the shows of the band, Big Daddy Love, working with selected charities that have a specific need for donation of goods, awareness of causes, and fundraising in ways that directly help people and communities.

History

The Love Bus began in 2009 as a vision between members of Big Daddy Love and some of its earliest fans and friends: a ‘movement’ of people that were already gathering together, to give back by helping selected charities. So many of the fans share passion and activism for causes related to the music and heart of this band—children, families, our beloved mountains, and preservation and protection of the environment, that we decided to start a moving, grassroots effort to gather this energy and give back directly to our hometown communities and beyond where many are in need. The whole idea of ‘The Love Bus’ has become embraced to mean fans and believers in this music, and at the core, spreading the love.

Dog Day Afternoon LOVE BUS Benefit Show!

BIG DADDY LOVE and The LOVE BUS is going to the Dogs!

Hey Love Bussers,
Many of you have met our unofficial band leader, Jaxon the beagle, so you know we are big fans of all animals (dogs, cats, birds, Sasquatches…) and we are really excited to help out on this great cause to benefit tail-wagging animal rescue and adoption groups.

Our buddies at Asheville Radio Group (Mix 96.5, 98.1 the River, 105.9 the Mountain, and ESPN Radio 1310 & ESPN Radio 970) are hosting the biggest dog festival Asheville has ever seen. The festival is going to benefit Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Animal Compassion Network, and Asheville Humane Society. Highland Brewing Company (Highland Gaelic is one of our favorites…) is going to be supplying the beer (BEER!), and several local restaurants that are going to be providing food. Come out with your pooch and have a good time with us!

Dog Day Afternoon

Where: Carrier Park in West Asheville (off of Amboy Rd. [exit 2 on I-240]).
When: Saturday, August 18th

Big Daddy Love headlines the festival!

Love Bus River Cleanup

River Runs: BDL and Volunteer River Cleanup (Love Bus Event)

We’re excited about our next Love Bus charity event, which is a river cleanup in Asheville, NC the morning of our March 24 show at Jack of the Wood.  We also want to take a second and announce a very special guest for this show: the Aaron Burdett Band will be opening for us.  Aaron is one of the best songwriters in the state and we are always proud to perform with him.  I’ll post a YouTube clip of one of his songs, “You Still Amaze Me,”  below.   Please take a second to check it out and visit his page.

“River Runs: Volunteer River Cleanup” is a family-friendly river cleanup event organized by Asheville GreenWorks, a nonprofit working for a clean and green Buncombe County, and the Love Bus. Call for Volunteers: fans, friends and any community members are asked to participate with Asheville GreenWorks and members of Big Daddy Love for this event on Saturday, March 24th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m to help remove debris and litter from the Swannanoa River waterways. No registration required, just show up!

Volunteers should meet outdoors at 387 Swannanoa River Road, Asheville, NC. This is by the I-240 bridge, on Swannanoa River Road (directly across from the U-Haul Rental Dealership), on the left-hand side of the road in a gravel pull-off by the water. Park in the gravel parking area and not in the U-Haul lot. A Google map is available for the meet up location at: http://g.co/maps/74svf.

• Groups and families with children (student groups participating)

• Wear layered clothes that can get wet/dirty

• Rubber boots/galoshes recommended

• Cleanup gear, first aid equipment, and drinking water for event provided

• Photo opportunity with band members and giveaways for participants

Following the “River Runs: Volunteer River Cleanup” event, we’ll be performing at Jack of the Wood (95 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801) on March 24th, 2012 starting at 9:30pm.  More about Big Daddy Love and show details can be found here.  Aaron Burdett will be opening.

Please help us spread the word! We look forward to seeing you out at the river!
